The band that never really was.
The Lemony Vagrants was a band that I started in late 2009. After finally purchasing a house here in Indiana, and now having a place to practice, I wanted to put together my ideal band. One major difference between starting a band in Indianapolis, IN vs. Wheeling, WV is that there are so many more musicians, but no more really good musicians. So it takes a lot of time to sift through the average players to get to the really good ones. Also, in Wheeling, I knew who those good musicians were because I had been involved in music back there my whole life. In Indiana, I don't have that luxury. After spending months weeding out average or below average players, there was still the issues of work ethic and musical taste. In the end, the group couldn't really gel in those areas. Additionally, the kinds of musicians who I'm used to playing with tend to opt to go with bands that already have jobs on the books, and without a solid foundation, I couldn't bring myself to "put my neck out" by booking jobs and risking having to cancel them. In the end, the opportunity to join 'Through Being Cool' turned out to be too good to pass up...even if it meant that I'd be back to playing bass. Demos
